I hope somehow apple creates forum software with spotlight search so as soon as I start typing something it searches through 500 pages of posts and on the right side of the screen will show similar comments, who posted it, and on what pages similar comments are/where posted.
 buddy, this forum was designed on a pc.

I think we all are getting caught up in the "core" crazy a little too much. I understand at a professional level the more cores the better. But Apple has delivered this target market its machine, the Mac Pro. I think the Mac Pro will see even more options in its configurations as time goes on, but I don't see them putting the next biggest and best chip in every product. After all, 90% of home computer users are using thier computers for basic functions and not heavy video or audio work, which means they don't need 4 cores. Apple is focusing on the digital lifestyle and this means they want to sell a customer hardware that will take care of this emerging market, like live streaming video rentals to their large screened LCD TV. I think the Mac Pro is the ever-expanding machine but look for huge price differences in its configs. An $800 difference in 2.66 to 3.0 GHz Xeon? All we do know is that Apple wants to rule the digital livingroom and probably is not concerned with bragging rights. But the obvious is true, there are some big steps ahead in processing power.

Really? Honestly, this is the most uninteresting Apple product since the Performa series in my opinion. Yawn. Not compelling. The SJ RDF will probably help my opinion, but still. My phone works. Thats all I need. (gah, am I getting old?!?!)
Yes, you're sounding very old. It's not the form factor. It's the software. Your phone's software sucks. All phones software is horrible. It's the same with the PC market. The whole integration is horrible. Apple streamlines processes with their software and they happen to understand good physical design and style. You're just not going to see many companies like that in what's left of your lifetime.

Some people have already mentioned AirFoil for audio, and there's AirView for video.
Airfoil still needs the Airfoil installed on your computer to work, it won't run with just the iOS apps. I think pika2000 is asking about iOS apps that emulate an airport express, so that you could send the same audio to every device in your house.

A 10megapixel phone will record more clearly the low quality picture that comes from these tiny lenses.
It will be a much larger file, and won't look much better than a 3MP. Still, as the lenses improve this will change.
There IS a limit as to what can be done at a given price point. Eventually the cost of a good lens for it will outweigh the benefits.
Sticking a 10mp sensor in a phone to me is ridiculous. Very few people ever need 10mp, and if they do they get a real camera instead. Not only does the phone have a very limited set of potential lens features, but the lens will generally be low quality and poorly corrected unless you spend a significant amount of money for a good one. Even then size will become an issue.
All a 10mp phone will do is be unusable in anything but superb light. It'll probably have even worse dynamic range than existing phones, record murky detail, and have the poorest signal to noise ratio on the planet.

They may have partnered with a network like Showtime for a movie library.
1) No HD. Way too much bandwidth here! As someone who edits HD, Mac Pro is underpowered for 1080i. (Not really!)
2) No first run movies like Walmart gets on the day of release. Although I wish, since I was capsized at Amazon, with a wrong version, scratched Poseidon.
But if one of the above proved untrue I would be very happy and start buying like crazy!! :p

LOL at everyone freaking out!! So Google can take pictures of your house, back garden, car etc and post them for the entire world to see without asking you first, Facebook would sell your soul for profit if it could, and your worried about Apple tracking your phone, most likely for it's Find My Phone feature? hahahaha.

I haven't read every post of this thread, so forgive me if its already been mentioned, but let's assume for a minute that the elusive Airport Express A/V is finally here. Do you think that it would just be a self contained white box with ports? I think it may be something more.
What if they just took the guts of a current AE, and stuffed them inside the universal iPod dock? It would have to be a little bigger than current designs, but same dock connection. It could be shown with the new iPod, and then the "One more thing" would be its added funtionallity. The ipod could handle the menu/frontrow display. Considering the bandwidth ncessary for video streaming, you could sync your iPod without actually connecting to your computer. Market it as an iPod accessory to a built in audience of 50 or so million.

They are bothered because they want to be able to describe their app store. They want to be able to say:
"We have this thing called Marketplace. What is it? Well, it's a place where you can by apps. Think of it as a grocery store for apps. You know, an app store."
In the Windows world, it would be a Program Store. Look at any Windows computer and there's nothing called an application or an app. MS claims to have, like 95% of the desktop market. How would the gazillion Windows users out there even know what an "app" was? They've had zero exposure to it, it's a totally foreign term. Wait a minute, it's an Apple term that is coming into common usage and now MS might have to change their language to get rid of the goofy term "program", conceding defeat, so its usage must be stopped or curtailed. That's what this is really about.

I'm not a gaming expert, but from what I've read, 512MB is no faster than 256MB for most current gaming applications, it's the throughput of the GPU that counts. Do any gamers out there want to comment on this?
I don't think that you could run Oblivion particularly well with only 256MB of Video Memory. Maybe you could, but you couldn't nearly max of the Graphics or else you would suffer some frame rate issues.

I've just finish chatting with a person on the apple website. She told me that I can use the new imac (21 and 27") thunderbold input to use the imac as an external display. Only if it comes from a thunderbolt output (like an macbook pro for exemple).

Anyone else notice that Elgato have now pulled their Eyehome media streaming device without a replacement? Anything to do with rumors of a rival device from Apple?
Rivalry or acquisition?

Do you believe that Google Android apps are a free for all and that apps are never rejected? Do you believe that Google is any different than any other company when comes to protecting their IP? Google maps API for example, cannot be used in third party applications that offer turn by turn navigation.
To be fair, that's quite possibly a limitation imposed on them by navteq/teleatlas.

- Image editing hardware (workstation)
- Image processing software
- Digital filing equipment and software
These are the products that Apple is exhibiting at the show, according to the photokina-site. Just to point out to the people that somehow has forgotten that Apple makes hardware very well suited for photography that a Macbook Pro is not out-of-place here! :p

Why Cingular?
They do not alow you to unlock their phones - even after their contract has expired. They think there is usa and nothing else. If you travel - you are screwed - roam on our network (or go to hell)! They are useless for anyone who travels beyond canada or hawaii(ok - thats only 15% of americans)
I have had Five different Cingular phones since Cellular One became Cingular and they switched their network to GSM. I've been given the unlock code for every one of my devices from little more than a phone call to customer service.
A little kindness goes a long way when dealing with a customer support agent who has spent all day dealing with the retards who are posting in this thread about how hard Cingular has "screwed them over" in the past. I think people just like playing the victim role when it comes to telco conglomerates because it's chic to be in the circle-jerk complainers crew on the blogosphere.

Prior to the date being given out for the press event I was fully expecting a new MBP at Photokina.
However now given that it is on a Sunday I see no hope of an update. They wouldn't take down the store on a Sunday whereas the Apeture update will either be a free download or a preview of a 2.0 App therefore needing no major store changes.
PS Is there any precedence of hardware updates on a Sunday?

it's quite gimmicky to only talk about interface transfer rates when the real performance is dependent on the hard drives.
Well, the discussion is about interface - point being that Thunderbolt-enabled devices will be available soon (days vs. years per the snide remark). Indeed, if the drives aren't fast enough to keep up then yes the bottleneck will be the drives - so the bottleneck won't be the interface, and the bottleneck won't be lack of anything to plug into the Mac's Thunderbolt port.
Funny how people will ignore the overarching real win to pick at a minor theoretical fail. There WILL be a bottleneck somewhere in the processor/memory/local-storage/interface/buffer/external-storage data chain short of perfect balance; I'm glad you're satisfied you'll always have something to point at and go "Ha-ha!". Twit.
ETA: Two 500GB 7200RPM RAID 0 drives should be pretty fast. Quick check on a random such drive and kicking around some numbers gives around 2GB/s sustained. Fine, you win, we can transfer that HD movie in 2.5 minutes instead of 30 seconds ... unless, say, we daisy-chain 5 of these LaCie drives together to saturate the pipeline. You have an application where this matters?

this is great:) were going to be able to control front row with our new touch screen ipods. apple has kept this "close to the chest" because it involves leapord, core animation and the new front row. they even showed it to us when demoing core animation. they had all the data for the floating songs right there while they were just raining down in the background. think about it you could see a what you streamed to the tv on the ipod and touch albums or dvd covers floating in the library. :D hope bluetooth is enough for that seems the movie dongle transef speeds are going to be fast. hope they do release a mac mini tubeport package too.

You think Mac fanboys are intense, Oprah fangirls are radically intense and a couple of orders of magnitude more numerous. The demographics of the audience tells the story of the "heartstrings" decision to support a charity targeted to women and children.
As for why release it on TV and "risk" a leak (which has happened obviously)? It's simple. The TV audience is vast. The Orpah watchers are MOTIVATED and spenders.
I agree. Oprah is an industry all by herself and if this rumour is true and she tells her audience to go and buy the new RED iPod to help in the fight against AIDS, I'd be fairly confident in predicting that it would be best-selling iPod ever.

By that argument, aren't windows and office generic terms???
I don't think Microsoft sues or claims to send cease and desist letters to people who make actual windows. I think they know the difference between software and a actual window.

I never said Apple going after Woolworths for their logo was a good move.
My only point in this whole discussion is Apple is not all sweet and innocent like so many like to think and defend them to the death. They have done some pretty lame things and filed frivolous lawsuits. And as an aside, The Beatles Let It Be album had a red apple logo in the center instead of the usual green.
