In other words, G5 PowerBooks next tuesday ;)
Man, I tell ya... 2 years+ ago when I wanted a new laptop, that's ALL I ever heard... I think Apple should build a one-off G5 laptop just to appease us crazy people in here, LOL! It would be an awesome tip-of-the-hat to us, don'tcha think? ;)

The main reason that it will never happen -> they never will charge the gas by the liter, they want to keep it by the gallon...and continue increasing the price, if they change to the liters...a lot of people will be confused and start to complaint and blame the price increases on the metric system...wait they may want to use it as a smoke flare....hum,....
Error. ;) Increases at the metric level are more subtle.
Also, we switched from a per-gallon "road" tax, to an ad velorem ??? tax, when now sold by the litre.
At that instant the Government got into the oil business.
And it's be downhill ever since.

Have you looked at the TouchWiz UI? It's almost identical to iOS - dock at the bottom, pages of icons in a grid and you even remove applications in the same way as you do on the iPhone. I've nothing at all against competition for iOS, but they shouldn't just rip the design off
http://www.sizzledcore.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Galaxy-S-24-375x500.jpg
Where is the logical place for a dock? At the bottom (no brainer--do you want to turn your device sideways or upside down?). Grid is the most efficient layout. How else are you going to lay them out?
Delete is a little similar, but it is one of the easiest ways to delete something. You can't exactly right click and going to the menu to delete apps seems innefficient.

So i assume you will be carrying the TomTom mount and iPhone as one piece at all times?
Of course you need to bring a mount - you need a mount either way. When I say "carry" I don't mean I keep it in a fanny pack 24/7. I mean I bring it with me when I travel. So let's count for the slow people...
Mount + Garmin + iPhone = 3 items
Mount + iPhone = 2 items
Gee - 2 is less than 3! Yay.

Honestly, I hope Toyota tells Apple to stuff it.
same here.
Apple should look at this as something that clearly shows what people want an add that to iOS and let people theme it.

Perhaps for a PowerBook G5?
As far as I am concerned, it is the same sort of thing really.

I think I remember reading on one of the MacRumors forums that Merom is really a full 64-bit processor, but rather a 32-bit w/ 64-bit extensions or something. Any truth in this?

Just don't make it obsolete by removing any features. SP version could easily be smaller but the DP version is already small compared to others.
The current case size is perfect imo. I know Apple likes their products to be as small and quiet as possible but you have to wonder if heat will be an issue with two six core processors in such a small case.

I'm outraged.
OK, not really, just wary of not having an OS disk in case of problems. It'd have to be followed by the merest physical back-up device in the mail, just in case. The current packaging of OSX is ridiculous; it might be good for the noobs, but I throw away everything but the disk the moment the box opens. I'd rather get a tiny USB key in a plain, brown rapper.
Intended? Probably not. Funny? Hilarious.

By now you should know that Apple is a greedy company, just wanting to hurt others and bankrupt several in the process.. its corporate america at its best.. hopefully NOT FOR TOO LONG.
Apple is one greedy corporation that just loves to attack.. typical of the coming corporate takeover of humanity.
Yup, and the moon landing was faked, and 9/11 was an inside job.

Niiice. If only I could use the cloud service as a TimeMachine, would be a lot better than using an external HD (if someone is going to break into my room and take my MBP, they'll probably nick my external HD as well).

Everyone does pay taxes. The statement that 40+% of the population paid no taxes is a lie. They may have paid no Federal Income Taxes, but that does NOT mean they paid no taxes.

I don't believe the iPad 3 is coming out this year. However, I'm curious what Apple would do if they wanted to change the release date to a later month, say September. Theoretically, they could release a slightly improved model at a higher price point later this year, calling it a "Pro" model, while still selling the current model. Then early next year, discontinue the iPad 2 and continue to sell the Pro models at a reduced price until September 2012 when the iPad 3 is released. I'm not saying this will happen, but I just wanted to point out a possible senario if Apple wants a later release date for the iPad.

Revenues are equal to zero if not associated with costs. Give us the profit figures. :D
From Wikipedia:
Samsung: Net income US$ 8.33 billion (2009)
Apple: Profit US$ 14.01 billion (FY 2010)
Apple's profits are higher but that's because they spend about $8 billion less on R&D than Samsung ;)

Sounds just like some bloke from Apple. Snow Leopard's the last of the true desktop OS's.
Really? In what sick and twisted world are you living? What's so very different in Lion that it's "not true desktop OS"? Launchpad the end of all?

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1
The Wall Street Journal reports (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703916004576271210109389154.html) that Apple has filed a patent lawsuit against Samsung, targeting the Korean company's "Galaxy" line of Android-based smartphones and tablets. The lawsuit, filed on April 15 in the Northern District of California, alleged that Samsung's smartphones, such as the "Galaxy S 4G," "Epic 4G," "Nexus S" and its "Galaxy Tab" touchscreen tablet, violated Apple's intellectual property.
"Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products," the lawsuit said.Samsung is one of Apple's chief suppliers (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/14/apple-set-to-become-samsungs-biggest-customer-with-7-8-billion-in-contracts/) for its own iOS-based devices, with Samsung manufacturing Apple's A4 and A5 systems-on-a-chip as well as LCD displays, flash memory, and other components.
Samsung is one the companies pushing ahead most aggressively in the tablet market to compete against Apple's iPad, having already released a 7-inch "Galaxy Tab" and announced (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/22/blackberry-playbook-coming-april-19th-at-499-samsung-intros-8-9-and-10-1-galaxy-tabs/) larger 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch versions set to launch within the next few months. The company is of course also a major player in the Android-based smartphone market.

You can already make a bootable USB thumb drive/DVD/external HD partition with Lion. You just have to use "Show Package Contents" to access the .dmg. Hopefully Apple will make a more user-friendly way of making a hard backup, perhaps through the installer itself.
Everything I heard said this image is not bootable nor usuable as a recovery media/installation media.

The company that really deserves criticism is intuit. They recently released quicken 2007 and it was not UB. They were releasing a new product and they chose to ignore intel Mac users. Makes you wonder if they are going to stay in the mac market at all. Maybe in the future they will just recommend running parallel and windows, to use quicken on an intel mac. That version of Quicken doesn't run fast enough in Rosetta? Seems like it would.
